Storyline:
Kesari is a powerful and emotional historical war drama based on the true events of the Battle of Saragarhi, one of the most courageous last stands ever recorded in military history. The movie stars Akshay Kumar in the lead role as Havildar Ishar Singh, the brave leader of a small Sikh regiment who fought fearlessly against an overwhelming Afghan army.
The film begins by showcasing the volatile environment of colonial India in 1897, where tensions between the British Indian Army and local tribes in the Northwest Frontier were constantly rising. Ishar Singh, a proud and dutiful soldier, is transferred to the remote outpost of Saragarhi, which stands between Fort Lockhart and Fort Gulistan. There, he commands a unit of 21 Sikh soldiers from the 36th Sikh Regiment.
When a force of over 10,000 Afghan invaders attack the outpost, Singh and his men stand their ground against impossible odds. With no hope of reinforcements, they choose honor over surrender, fighting till their last breath.
