Storyline:
My Dear Bootham is a magical fantasy film that beautifully captures the essence of friendship, emotions, and courage through a heartwarming tale.
The movie centers around Thenu, a young school-going boy who suffers from a speech disorder. He is often ridiculed by his classmates and even neglected by society due to his stammering problem. Thenu feels lonely and struggles to fit in, despite being a bright and kind-hearted child.
During a school excursion to an ancient archaeological site, Thenu accidentally stumbles upon a mysterious bottle. Upon opening it, he unknowingly releases a powerful genie named Karkimuki (played by Prabhu Deva), who had been trapped inside for over a thousand years due to a curse.
Initially shocked, Thenu is soon delighted as the genie befriends him. Karkimuki, a quirky yet kind-hearted genie, promises to fulfill three wishes for the boy. But more than that, he becomes a friend, guide, and protector to the lonely child. With his magical powers, Karkimuki starts helping Thenu in school, in his personal life, and even encourages him to speak up and face the world with courage.
As their friendship deepens, the duo embarks on heartwarming adventures—some humorous, some emotional. Thenu begins to open up, finds confidence, and starts to live a life he once only dreamed of. Meanwhile, Karkimuki too begins to understand human emotions and modern-day life through Thenu’s innocence.
However, not everything goes smoothly. Authorities and society start noticing strange activities and begin suspecting Thenu. The magical presence of the genie becomes a threat in their eyes. Trouble brews when people try to capture Karkimuki or destroy the bottle to eliminate the “unknown threat.”
Faced with the danger of losing his only friend, Thenu gathers all his strength and speaks out, standing up to protect Karkimuki. In the emotional climax, the bond between the two characters brings tears and inspiration to the audience, showing that true friendship knows no boundaries—be it human or magical.
